Body Mass Index (BMI) Calculator
Does your weight match up with your height?
Body Mass Index (BMI) is an internationally recognized index that uses an individual's body weight (in kilograms) and height (in metres) to determine his or her risk of obesity. The calculation of BMI is done as follows:

BMI = weight (kg) / height (m) x height (m)

BMI values apply to both men and women, regardless of their age, frame size, or muscle mass. Since muscle weighs more than fat, the BMI calculator may have limitations with regard to an athletic or muscular individuals. Calculating body mass index requires only two measurements, which is the height and weight.

Waist-to-Hip Ratio
Waist-to-Hip ratio is used to look at the fat distribution of the body. Depending on the region where the fat predominates, either it is on the waist or on the hip, the risk for heart disease, hypertension, diabetes or stroke can be predicted.

To determine if you have a healthy Waist-to-Hip ratio, use a measuring tape to measure the circumference of your hips at the widest part of your buttocks. Then measure your waist at the smaller circumference of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button.
